Carlisle Historical Guide – An Interactive Map
My hope was to create a simple and accessible historical map, so that everyone could learn more about Carlisle’s past – a past that has defined the town we live in today. From the colonial homesites of minutemen, to the old foundations of what were once grist mills, mines, and schoolhouses, each site represents an important aspect of Carlisle’s past. Even though many of these sites disappeared long ago, I hope everyone – from longtime Carlisle residents to town newcomers, from grade-school children to senior citizens – will learn something new about Carlisle, or will reconnect with the town’s extraordinarily rich past. I hope the exploration of this historical, interactive map will reignite an interest and appreciation in Carlisle’s past, and encourage everyone to make their own discoveries – as this map is only a beginning.
